Woman killed in hit-and-run, Bladensburg police said

A woman died Tuesday evening in Prince George's County, Maryland, following a car accident, police said.

A woman died after a car accident in Prince George's County, Maryland on Tuesday evening.

Bladensburg police told WTOP it happened around 11:30 p.m. in the 4500 block of Bladensburg Road, near Baltimore Avenue and the Peace Cross Memorial.

She was subsequently taken to hospital where she later died.

The driver who hit the woman did not stay at the scene of the accident.

Bladensburg Road was closed due to the accident, but WTOP's traffic center reported the road reopened after 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The police suspect a hit-and-run and are investigating the accident.
