The curious case of Nancy Pelosi – Orange County Register

Some people find it very difficult to accept a yes as an answer.

In sales, it is a basic rule to be able to accept a yes.

In fact, there is an old saying among salespeople: “Don’t sell them anything twice.”

Sales expert Michelle Weinstein, who has appeared on CNBC's Shark Tank, wrote, “If the customer says YES, it's all good. Say thank you, take the money, and make it REALISTIC. But don't let nervous chatter ruin the sale. Stop talking, stop selling, and start celebrating.”

While politics isn't necessarily about selling, many of the same principles apply. In a democratic setting, you can't get what you want unless you can get other people to do what you want to do.

Recently, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi concluded that President Joe Biden could not win re-election and that Democrats would likely lose control of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.

For this reason, she wanted him to drop out of the race and allow another Democrat to run in November. Biden disagreed and maintained his belief that he still had a chance in the election.

Private conversations took place, pressure was applied, and finally Biden gave Pelosi what she wanted and declared the matter closed.

In other words, Pelosi got her yes.

That's why it's so bizarre that she continues to go out and stab him in public every time she gets the chance.

Nancy has done everything she can to publicly humiliate Joe Biden, except cutting his steak at dinner.

Let's review some of their biggest hits.

On August 5, Pelosi appeared on CNN's Dana Bash and said she had not spoken to Biden since he dropped out of the presidential race last month.

When asked if she would like to speak with him in the future, Pelosi replied, “Yes.” However, she noted that both are “busy” people.

“Is everything okay with your relationship?” asked Bash.

“You’d have to ask him, but I hope so,” Pelosi said.

“You’ll have to ask him” is politician jargon and means “I despise that disgusting scum.”

On August 8, Pelosi told the New Yorker, “I've never been so impressed with his policy work… They won the White House. Bravo. But my concern was: That's not going to happen, and we have to make a decision to make it happen.”

On August 11, Pelosi suggested to the New York Times that Biden did not actually write his exit letter. “I did not accept the letter as anything other than a letter. I mean, I mean, there are some people who were unhappy with the letter, let's say some people said that some people were unhappy with the letter. I'll put it in somebody else's mouth, because it was a… I don't even know. It didn't sound like Joe Biden to me. Really not,” she said.

I suppose there was a feeling that the President's letter on the occasion of his departure from the administration was obviously not written by Joe Biden, as it was precise, clearly worded and polite.

Finally, when CNN's Jake Tapper said on August 19 that Biden and his allies still had “resentment” and “bad blood” against Pelosi, she laughed it off and said, “Sometimes you have to take a hit … for the kids.”

She continued, “I did what I had to do… My concern was not the president, but his campaign.”

Ouch.
