La Salle man dies in crash on Interstate 80 between Seneca and Morris – Shaw Local

A La Salle man died Tuesday in a crash on Interstate 80 between Seneca and Morris.

A preliminary investigation indicates that 47-year-old David A. Biggane was traveling eastbound when he collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer, Grundy County Coroner John W. Callahan's office said in a news release Wednesday. The crash occurred around 11:50 a.m. Tuesday on eastbound Interstate 80 near mile marker 109. Biggane died at the scene, the coroner's office said.

Biggane was traveling in a Dodge Grand Caravan, Illinois State Police Trooper Genelle Jones said. Traffic on the eastbound lanes of I-80 was closed from about noon until 4:53 p.m., Jones said. Westbound traffic on the interstate was diverted from Seneca Road, which is east of the crash site, and reopened around 1 p.m.

The Illinois State Police Traffic Accident Reconstruction Unit and the medical examiner's office are investigating the accident. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
