House fire in Bradford – News: Fire in Westbury Road kills three children and a woman, murder investigation launched

Three children and a woman were killed in a suspected arson attack on Wednesday morning.

A 29-year-old woman died in the house in Bradford, while two girls aged one and nine and a five-year-old boy later died in hospital.

West Yorkshire Police arrested a 39-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of murder. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The police assume that the fire was deliberately set and has a domestic background.

Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson said: “This is an absolutely devastating incident in which three children and a woman have lost their lives.”

“Our thoughts are with her family, friends and loved ones.

Investigators ask for witnesses and footage

Investigators are asking witnesses to describe what they saw after a fire in Bradford that killed three children and a 29-year-old woman.

Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident or who has CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward.”

Neighbors tried to help when screams were heard

A woman who lives in the street told the Telegraph and Argus that neighbors rushed to help as screams were heard and smoke filled the air.

“My husband went up the street to see if he could help.

“He could tell it was a house fire because there were flames and smoke coming from the house. The fire was blazing.

“But firefighters and police officers asked him to step back and not put himself in danger. Other residents also tried to help.”

The woman said: “There was really thick smoke coming up the road. It filled the whole area. It looked foggy. It was overwhelming.”

“You could hear screams.

“I was afraid to go up there and look because you don't know what's going to happen.”

Arrested man injured by fire

According to police, the arrested man was seriously injured by the flames.

Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson said: “This is an absolutely devastating incident in which three children and a woman have lost their lives.”

“Our thoughts are with her family, friends and loved ones.

“Initial investigations revealed that the fire was deliberately set and we have arrested a man on suspicion of murder.

“He is currently in hospital seriously ill due to injuries caused by the fire.

“Although our investigation is still at an early stage, we currently believe this to be a domestic incident.”

Man arrested on suspicion of murder after house fire

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a house fire in Bradford killed four people, including three children.

Two girls, one nine and one one year old, and a five-year-old boy were taken to hospital but all succumbed to their injuries.

A 29-year-old woman also died at the scene of the accident, West Yorkshire Police said.

Shortly after 2 a.m. on Wednesday, firefighters were called to a house fire at a building on Westbury Road, police said.
