Bunnell man accused of stabbing wife to death charged with murder

A Bunnell man who police say killed his wife while he was on probation for beating her was indicted Wednesday by a Flagler County grand jury on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

In addition to the charge of premeditated murder, 52-year-old Jermaine Williams Sr. was also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, prosecutors said.

Williams stabbed his wife, Yolonda Williams, 50, multiple times outside their home at 408 S. Pine St. in Bunnell on August 2, police said.

Williams was held without bail in the Flagler County Jail.

Williams told police he tried to get back together with her on the day of the murder. He was sleeping in his truck in the driveway of the house. He got a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her repeatedly, police said.

Williams' father ordered his son to stop the attack at gunpoint, which the son did, police said.

Williams admitted to attacking her but said he did not know how many times he hit her with the knife, police said.

“In the Seventh Judicial District, one in five homicides we prosecute is a result of domestic violence,” District Attorney RJ Larizza said in a press release. “As a community, we must continue to create and provide resources to empower, support and protect victims of domestic violence. Otherwise, the deaths and despair that domestic violence creates will go unanswered.”

Man was on probation for beating his wife

Williams is on probation for beating and killing his wife in January 2023, police said.

He was upset because she had spent $80 on her nails, the affidavit said. She said he threatened to smash her nails with a hammer if she didn't cut off the fake nails, which she did, the affidavit said. He then accused her of having an affair and hit her.

As part of the agreement he signed on July 19, 2022, Williams was sentenced to 18 months of community service followed by 30 months of probation.
