Eagles could sign a four-time Pro Bowler due to injury concerns for Saquon Barkley

The Philadelphia Eagles have the tools to make a run at the Super Bowl in 2024.

Philadelphia has one of the most talented rosters in football and solid depth. While that is true, even the Eagles could use some more depth and there are still some interesting players available as free agents.

If the Eagles make another move, it might make sense to add more experienced depth behind running back Saquon Barkley. He's one of the best running backs in the National Football League, but he's battled a number of injuries throughout his career and had a bit of a scare on Tuesday when he left practice early to get his back checked out.

According to Brooks Kubena of The Athletic, Barkley changed for practice on Wednesday but did not participate in initial team drills.

“Eagles RB Saquon Barkley is dressed but is not participating in team practices,” Kubena said. “Kenneth Gainwell is running. Barkley was not on the injured list.”

It looks like Barkley will ultimately be OK, but it wouldn't hurt to add some depth. One player who is still available is four-time Pro Bowler Dalvin Cook. He had a rough year with the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens in 2023, but had just under 1,200 rushing yards in 2022. He's only 29 years old and wouldn't cost much. At this point, the Eagles should consider moving to safety.
