No bail for three people accused of drug offenses in St. Lawrence County

CITY OF MORRISTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) – Three people from the Rochester area are being held without bail in the St. Lawrence County Jail after their arrest on drug charges.

During a traffic stop on Route 37 in the city of Morristown on Monday, deputies allegedly found approximately 230 grams of cocaine and 140 grams of fentanyl.

Three people in the vehicle were charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The following are considered suspects:

  • Edwin Mercado-Rodriguez, 54 years old
  • Rafaela DeJesus, 47 years old
  • Carlos Melendez, 24 years old

In addition to the drugs, officers also seized $5,692 in cash.

The suspects were arraigned in Morristown Municipal Court.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the New York State Police, the U.S. Border Patrol, the Canton Police Department and the Massena Police Department.
