5 bodies have reportedly been found off the coast of Sicily, 1 is still missing after a luxury superyacht sank in a freak storm. Here's what we know about the incident.

Four bodies were reportedly recovered off the coast of Sicily on Wednesday by divers searching for passengers on a luxury yacht that sank earlier this week, the Italian coast guard said. A fifth body was spotted and is expected to be recovered on Thursday, with one person still missing.

The divers brought body bags to the port in Porticello, Italy, but none of the dead have yet been identified.

The yacht sank on Monday after being caught in an unexpected and violent storm. One person, the ship's cook, was rescued on Monday.

Among the six passengers missing on Monday were British technology magnate Mike Lynch, sometimes referred to as the “British Bill Gates,” and his daughter, Morgan Stanley International Chairman Jonathan Bloomer and American lawyer Chris Morvillo.

The Bayesian capsized about half a mile off the coast of Porticello, a small fishing village. There were 22 people on board – 12 passengers and 10 crew members. The Bagheria city council said in a statement that seven adults were taken to the emergency room after the rescue, but “it seems that none of them are in serious condition.”

While crews searched for the remaining bodies, others were trying to figure out why the boat sank in the first place. According to a BBC report, a severe storm hit the coast of Sicily and created waterspouts, tornadoes that form above the water. The waterspout winds were so strong that they broke the boat's mast in half, causing the anchored vessel to lose its balance and sink.

The UK Marine Accident Investigation Branch plans to send a four-person team of investigators to make a preliminary assessment of the reasons for the Bayesian's sinking and the reasons why people are still on board.

When the ship sank, 15 people were able to reach safety and were rescued by a nearby boat.

The crew of a nearby Dutch ship noticed the yacht's disappearance and saw flares being set off in the sea. They rushed to the survivors' aid before the Italian coast guard arrived.

A British passenger, Charlotte Golunski, told reporters she kept her one-year-old daughter alive by holding her afloat until they got into a lifeboat.

According to the Associated Press, the weekly rental price for the yacht on charter websites is $215,000.

Boat International, a guide to superyachts and luxury yachts, reported that Bayesian has the world's tallest aluminum mast at over 240 feet, making it one of the 50 largest sailing yachts in the world.

Lynch, 59, was the founder of software company Autonomy and recently faced a legal battle with U.S. company Hewlett-Packard after the technology company accused him of inflating Autonomy's value in an $11 billion sale in 2011.

Lynch was acquitted of multiple fraud charges in June after a three-month trial, avoiding a possible 20-year prison sentence.
