Tragic collision on Highway 20 leaves two dead and children injured

On Tuesday, August 20, at around 3:40 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash with two fatalities on Highway 20 near Blodgett, Oregon, the Benton County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) said Wednesday.

BCSO investigators determined that 26-year-old Shylene Olsen of Corvallis was traveling eastbound on Highway 20 in a white 2020 Hyundai Ionic when she crossed the center line and collided with 31-year-old Anna Kelley of Waldport, who was traveling westbound in a blue 2010 Toyota Highlander.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Two minor children in the Toyota were taken to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with minor injuries, BCSO said.

Highway 20 was closed near mile marker 42 for about three hours while investigators examined the scene of the accident.
