Man and woman charged in shooting on Interstate 880 near Hayward

OAKLAND – Alameda County prosecutors this week charged two people with multiple crimes in connection with a shooting on Interstate 880 in Hayward.

The Alameda County District Attorney's Office filed attempted murder charges against 22-year-old Elias Nathaniel Jimenez and 43-year-old Maria Rosalia Martinez in connection with the Aug. 6 shooting. The two are also charged with assault with a firearm and shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, court records show.

Few details of the incident have been released. The shooting occurred along Interstate 880 in Hayward and targeted a vehicle containing an adult and a child, according to prosecutors. It was not immediately clear whether anyone was injured in the altercation.

Jimenez is also charged with carrying a loaded firearm in public and possessing a high capacity magazine, as well as several enhanced offenses. He is being held without bail in the Santa Rita Jail.

Martinez is also charged with allowing another person to fire from a vehicle. She is being held in jail on $200,000 bail.
