Pollock man convicted of attempted second-degree murder after 2021 home invasion

COLFAX, Louisiana (CALF) – Grant Parish District Attorney Jay Lemoine said Chad Scott, 38, of Pollock, was sentenced Wednesday, Aug. 21, for attempted first-degree murder, burglary, theft and cruelty to a juvenile.

Lemoine said the jury found Scott guilty after an hour of deliberation.

Scott was arrested on November 19, 2021, after breaking into the home of an off-duty Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agent near Georgetown on November 10, 2021.

Authorities said Scott was armed with a handgun, kicked in the front door and went into the bedroom. Before he could fire the gun, the homeowner shot Scott, incapacitating him.

He was subsequently hospitalized and arrested after his release.

Scott was held on $750,000 bail and sentencing is scheduled for December 5.
