One person in custody after shooting near McLane High School

Fresno Police responded after an altercation between students near McLane High School resulted in a shooting.

According to FPD, the dispatch center received a report of shots fired near an auto zone on the corner of Clinton and Cedar Avenue around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Officers said they found no gunshot victims upon arrival.

FPD officers learned that an altercation had broken out between students at nearby McLane High School. They say a gun was pulled out and several shots were fired, causing everyone to run away.

According to deputies, the bullets hit a parked vehicle and a building.

Deputies said that with the help of witnesses, they were able to obtain descriptions of the people involved, including the shooter.

About 30 minutes after the shooting, officers arrested a person matching the description of the shooter.

They continue to follow up on leads and search for other people who may be involved.
