Woman arrested with meth in stolen car, tries to smuggle more into prison, police say

A woman was arrested after she was caught smuggling methamphetamine into the Lyon County Jail in a stolen car on Tuesday.

On August 20, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office was contacted by Sparks Police for assistance with a stolen Audi SUV driven by Michelle Martian. Officers checked a residence in the 400 block of Fort Sutter Boulevard in Fernley.

The officer noticed that the garage of the residence was partially open, but the resident of the home closed the garage door before the officer could identify the vehicle.

At approximately 2:21 p.m., an officer observed the stolen vehicle traveling west on Newlands Drive exiting a Walmart. The officer initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle fled and drove into the parking lot of the Silverado Casino before it was eventually stopped in the parking lot of the Super 8 Motel. The officer conducted a traffic stop and took the driver, Alyssa Holmes, into custody. A search resulted in the seizure of 2.6 grams of methamphetamine, packaging material and drug paraphernalia.

Holmes was taken to the Lyon County Jail, where officers found an additional 26.7 grams of methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe hidden in her groin area.

The original suspect, Michelle Martian, has still not been identified.

Holmes was charged with the following counts:

  • Possession of a stolen vehicle
  • Evade
  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Introduction of narcotics into a prison facility
  • Possession of methamphetamine for sale
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia (x2)
  • Driving with a revoked license
