Pineville woman killed in accident on I-49

RAPIDES PARISH, La. (KALB) – Louisiana State Police Troop E reported on August 21 that a Pineville woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on I-49.

Christy Johnson, 48, of Pineville, was reportedly killed in the crash.

Police arrived at the scene of the accident on I-49 near Highway 121 around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday. They found Johnson traveling southbound on I-49 in the outside lane. For reasons still unknown, her vehicle collided with a car parked in the outside lane. The car was reportedly stopped due to traffic congestion following a previous accident.

Johnson was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. The other driver was wearing a seatbelt, sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Toxicological samples were routinely taken for analysis.

This crash remains under investigation.
