Man who died while in custody at Penobscot County Jail identified

A man who died in the Penobscot County Jail on August 14 has been identified.

The death of 51-year-old Randy Webber of Stonington remains under investigation by Bangor police. Webber was charged with aggravated drug trafficking and booked into jail at 2:15 p.m. on Aug. 12, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office.

According to authorities, Webber was found unconscious in his apartment unit at about 7:55 a.m. on August 12. On-site personnel and later the Bangor Fire Department performed rescue efforts, but he did not regain consciousness and was later pronounced dead.
