Police chase in Post Falls leads to arrest of two teenagers after car break-in

POST FALLS, ID – Post Falls police officers were involved in a foot chase early Monday morning that resulted in two male teenagers being arrested on numerous charges following a reported car burglary.

In the incident, which began around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in the area of ​​North Lincoln Street and East 13th Avenue, the suspects fled from police after a car alarm went off.

A citizen alerted police to the suspects attempting to break into a neighbor's car. When officers arrived, one of the suspects fled, leading to a multi-block chase in which the suspects jumped fences and ran through residential yards. The first teen was arrested shortly afterward, and the second a short time later.

According to Post Falls police, both suspects were intoxicated and one of them was armed with a handgun. They are linked to several car break-ins in the area and were found in possession of stolen property, including a firearm. Due to their minor status, their names are not being released.

The suspects were booked into the juvenile detention center. They were charged with burglary, possession of stolen property, criminal conspiracy, possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of tobacco by a minor and violation of curfew, among other charges. Additionally, one juvenile was charged with resisting arrest and the other with carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence of alcohol.

Later that day, detectives executed search warrants on the teenagers' homes and seized additional stolen property, including another firearm.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be brought.
