Three officials of RG Kar Hospital relocated amid protests

The West Bengal government sacked three senior officials of RG Kar Hospital, responding to the demand of young doctors.

Former chief medical officer of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandip Ghosh, who had been transferred to Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital as director, has also been removed from his post, Health Minister NS Nigam said.

The three senior officials of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital (RGKMCH) have been transferred to different government health facilities, he said.

According to an order issued on Wednesday evening, Prof. (Dr.) Bulbul Mukhopadhyay, the medical superintendent and vice-principal of RG Kar MCH, has been replaced by Saptarshi Chatterjee with immediate effect.

Manas Kumar Bandyopadhyay has been appointed as the new principal of RGKMCH replacing Suhrita Paul, who has been appointed as the principal of Barasat Government Medical College and Hospital, it said.

The head of the RGKMCH's pulmonary department, Arunabha Datta Chaudhuri, has been transferred to Malda Medical College and Hospital, according to the order.
