BMW driver gets into trouble with police after McDonald's outing

An uninsured driver from Swindon regretted his trip to McDonald's after being stopped by police.

The BMW driver made a brief detour to get some fast food, but was soon stopped in Swindon town centre, on the street opposite the Khyber Indian on Regent Circus.

They were then left without a car after Wiltshire Police traffic police officers discovered they were uninsured.

The incident was posted on Wiltshire Specialist Operations' Twitter/X page, where officers involved took the opportunity to make some tongue-in-cheek puns about takeaway food.

The post said: “The driver wanted to quickly order his food at McDonald's, but unfortunately he forgot to order his insurance policy, oops!”

“Fortunately #ARV had sharpened his crayon, completed the TOR and ordered a recovery!

“The only thing this driver takes with him is a handful of paperwork.”

To round off the post, the RPU spokesperson added the hashtag “#McSeized.”

Members of the public who responded to the post also joined in the wordplay.

One person wrote: “He got caught,” and another added: “I love it…”
