Rollover accident blocks NB I-5 in SeaTac

Police are investigating a rollover crash Thursday morning that blocked all lanes of northbound I-5 in SeaTac.

At around 3 a.m., the Washington State Department of Transportation warned commuters that all lanes on South 188th Street were closed due to a serious accident and that some lanes could be closed during the morning rush hour.

It is unknown when the road will reopen, but drivers are advised to take alternate routes and allow extra time. Traffic will be detoured from South 200th Street.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson said the crash involved two vehicles – a car and a pickup truck – and the driver of the one that caused the crash struck the other vehicle from behind at a high rate of speed.

A passenger in one of the vehicles was ejected, and the driver of one of the vehicles was taken into custody on suspicion of vehicular impairment.

Nothing is known about the condition of the injured passenger.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
