Woman from Venus allegedly smashed car with aluminum bat, causing over $4,500 in damage

PINEGROVE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a Venus woman in Pinegrove Township intentionally damaged a vehicle, causing more than $4,500 in damages.

According to court documents, Franklin State Police charged the 38-year-old Coralee Katherine Ruthof Venus, in the office of District Judge Patrick Lowrey on Tuesday, August 20.

According to a criminal complaint, on June 27 at approximately 7:10 p.m., PSP Franklin was called to the 2400 block of County Line Road in Pinegrove Township, Venango County, for a domestic disturbance.

The police arrived on the scene and spoke with Coralee Ruthwho readily admitted to damaging a black Ford Escape with a pink aluminum bat, the complaint states.

The lawsuit states that Ruth allegedly admitted to damaging the headlights and rear window and causing dents in the hood area.

According to the complaint, the owner of the vehicle later contacted police and asked that charges be filed against Ruth for the damage she caused to the vehicle. A repair shop estimated the damage at $4,564.91.

Ruth is faced with the following accusation:

  • Damage to property – Damage to property, misdemeanor 2

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 18, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. in Venango County Central Court.
