28-year-old woman dead after shooting in southwest Birmingham in which another person was injured

One of the two people injured in a shooting in southwest Birmingham on Wednesday evening has died.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim Thursday as Kayla Alexandria Warren. She was 28 and lived in Birmingham.

The shooting occurred Wednesday at 8:04 p.m. in the 700 block of 30th Street SW

Sergeant LaQuitta Wade said one of the victims was taken to Princeton Baptist Medical Center by private vehicle. The second was transported to UAB Hospital by the Birmingham Fire Department.

Warren was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital at 10:54 p.m.

Details of the fatal shooting have not yet been released. There were also reports of shots fired at a nearby residential home.

In Warren, this is the 103rd murder case in the city this year. Eight of these cases were judged to be justified and are therefore not considered criminal.

There were 130 murders across Jefferson County, including 103 in Birmingham.
