Man grabs mask in jewelry store and disappears with display case in Vero Beach

The man accused of stealing an entire display case from a Vero Beach jewelry store apparently needed a mask for the planned robbery, so he grabbed one the store offered him and used it, city police said.

The Vero Beach Police Department (VBPD) is trying to find the man and released several pictures late Wednesday evening. Anyone who recognizes him should contact the authorities.

According to the report, the man entered the St. Vincent De Paul store on 14th Avenue around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, grabbed a surgical mask and put it on. Investigators say he then took the display case and left without anyone noticing.
