Testimony continues in trial of former Jefferson County Clerk Kirk Reams

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The second day of testimony began Thursday as former Jefferson County Clerk of Court Kirk Reams is charged with grand larceny and fraud involving alleged embezzlement of public funds, and two other people have also been charged in the case.

Former Commissioner Betsy Barfield was the first to take the stand when the trial resumed Thursday. Barfield testified several months ago when a mistrial was declared in Reams' case. This time, the state is hoping for a different result. Reams' defense has argued in the past that Barfield has a personal feud with the former employee.

Testimony could last until next week. WCTV covered the trial on Wednesday, when Reams' co-defendant Tyler McNeill took the stand. You can read about it here.

WCTV's Staci Inez is monitoring the court proceedings and will provide detailed reports on Eyewitness News at 5 and 6 a.m.
