Man from Potsdam charged after police chase that ended in accident

MORRISTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) – A Potsdam man landed in jail Wednesday after participating in a chase that ended when his suspected stolen vehicle collided with a police SUV in the town of Morristown.

According to state police, 28-year-old Kody LaRock collided with the Ogdensburg police vehicle while attempting to avoid a tire pressure reducer that police had placed on State Route 37.

The pursuit began on State Route 58 in the town of Morristown. The tan 2012 Chevrolet led police for nearly half an hour and about 30 miles across several roads.

LaRock was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree malicious damage to property, third-degree unauthorized flight from police in a motor vehicle, third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and several vehicle and traffic violations.

He was arraigned in Morristown Municipal Court and held without bail.

LaRock was medically evaluated by the Ogdensburg Rescue Squad. The Ogdensburg officer involved in the accident was transported to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center for evaluation.
