Christopher Walden allegedly killed pedestrian in Leighton

LEIGHTON, Ala. (WAFF) – Charges are being filed against a Sheffield man accused of hitting and killing a pedestrian.

According to court documents obtained by WAFF, Christopher Walden is charged with manslaughter.

Court records show Walden had methamphetamine in his blood when he hit Timothy Wood with his truck in the Brick Hatton Community on June 26th.

Officials with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said Wood was initially allegedly pulling a trailer on State Route 184 near Shaw Road when he stopped to attach a strap to his trailer.

Wood was working on the trailer when Walden collided with him and killed him.

The state investigators' affidavit states that Walden had more than 17 seconds to realize that Wood had stopped despite exceeding the speed limit.
