Fargo man arrested after series of car thefts – InForum

CASSELTON, ND — A Fargo man was arrested after allegedly stealing and wrecking several cars in Cass County.

According to a press release from the Cass County Sheriff's Office, the Casselton Sheriff's Office and Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire in rural Casselton just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20. Upon investigating the fire, officers found that the vehicle had been stolen in Fargo and a second vehicle had been stolen from a nearby farm. The second vehicle was found later that day in Ransom County and a third vehicle was reported stolen in the same area.

At around 7:30 p.m., a passerby reported a vehicle in a ditch near rural Davenport, the release said. When Cass County officers arrived on scene, they arrested 32-year-old Craig Andrew Vinton. Vinton was taken to the Cass County Jail, where he is being held on a charge of auto theft.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office thanked community members who reported suspicious activity.

“The combined efforts of vigilant citizens and our agency were instrumental in Vinton's arrest,” the sheriff's office said in a statement.

Our newsroom occasionally reports under the name “Staff.” The “Staff” name is often used when rewriting basic news briefs from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure that requires little or no reporting. Sometimes this name is used when a story has multiple authors or when the story consists of compiling previously reported news from various sources. When outside sources are used, this is noted in the story.
