Memphis Police Make Arrest in Penny Hardaway Porch Piracy Case

A 42-year-old Hernando, Mississippi, man was arrested and charged Thursday in connection with the theft of exclusive Nike sneakers from the home of Memphis basketball coach Penny Hardaway, Memphis police told The Commercial Appeal newspaper.

The man was charged with Class E theft of property.

According to Memphis Police, officers responded to a theft call around 7:20 p.m. on August 8.

According to the incident report, 14 pairs of the sneakers designed for Hardaway and friends and family were stolen. The estimated value of the shoes is $2,100.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Memphis police wrote that when they arrived on scene, they were informed that surveillance camera footage showed “a man pushing a shopping cart and stealing several packages.” Memphis police also released still images of a suspect wearing a black tank top and long pants.
