Man arrested for burglary and robbery in viral court meeting with Miami-Dade judge in 2015

MIAMI – Arthur Booth, whose high school reunion with former classmate, Miami-Dade Judge Mindy Glazer, went viral in 2015, was back in court Thursday to face robbery and burglary charges.

This time, he did not meet Glazer, his former classmate at Nautilus Middle School, in bail court. A different judge was in court.

Authorities arrested Booth, 58, on Tuesday in connection with two incidents in which he was accused of snatching jewelry from victims: one in Hialeah and another in Miami.

A police report states that on August 14, Booth went to the apartment of a 78-year-old man in the 900 block of Southeast 12th Street in Hialeah “wearing dark blue clothing, dark boots, a white hard hat and Gucci sunglasses,” posed as a plumber and “forcibly entered the victim's apartment without permission.”

Hialeah police said Booth went into the kitchen and turned on the water while the frightened resident told him to leave “multiple times.”

Booth “walked up to the victim, violently ripped the gold chain from his neck and pushed the victim, nearly causing him to fall,” police said.

According to the report, he then fled with the man's necklace, valued at $1,500.

According to police, the second case occurred on Tuesday evening in the Grapeland Heights district of Miami.

According to Miami police, Booth approached a woman in the area between Northwest 34th Avenue and 17th Street, calling her “mommy” and “acting as if he was asking for directions.”

A police report states that when the woman turned around, he snatched her Gucci gold chain with several pendants and fled.

Police said they were able to locate his vehicle at a CVS store at 690 NW 57th Ave. in the Flagami neighborhood of Miami.

There they found him along with the hard hat and Gucci sunglasses from the break-in in Hialeah, authorities said.

Authorities said additional clothing items were found during a search of his room at a nearby extended-stay hotel. The report says police were also able to determine that he had pawned the Hialeah victim's necklace at a store in northwest Miami-Dade.

Police arrested Booth, who was on parole for fleeing, eluding and reckless driving, for burglary with assault and robbery.

Booth has been held without bail at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center since Thursday, appearing to have failed to fulfill Glazer's 2015 hope that he would “live a law-abiding life” after their courtroom confrontation.
