Stephen Webb burst into tears as he spoke about his tragic family life on Thursday's episode of Celebs Go Dating.

The Gogglebox star, 53, was moved to tears as he spoke of his fears of being “let down” in relationships after his father left his mother when he was little.

After growing up with his mother, brother and three sisters, Stephen tragically lost his brother Paul, who died of a heroin overdose at the age of 32.

Stephen spoke to the agents about his heartbreak and explained that he felt abandoned after breaking up with his first relationship.

He talked in detail about his childhood and began by saying: “My father left it to my mother to raise us five children on her own.”

The Gogglebox star revealed that his father left him and his siblings when he was young and that his brother Paul tragically died of a heroin overdose at the age of 32.

When asked by Paul Carrick Brunson if he felt any pressure from his father's departure, Stephen replied, “Tons.”

He added: “And particularly when I was about 30 years old, my brother died and that meant I was the only boy with three sisters.

“I felt like I was doing my father’s job.”

Stephen is the star of the Channel 4 dating show after his six-year marriage to Daniel Lustig, with whom he previously appeared on Gogglebox, collapsed.

About the end of the relationship, he said: “I have to accept what happened between me and my husband Daniel and I am still working on processing it.”

“I had quietly stopped for over a year. I just didn't feel like it anymore. I felt like life was flying by and I wanted a new adventure.”

Stephen previously spoke to The Sun about his split, saying: “We touch on it in the show. We both kind of shut down and stopped working on it.

“The longer you wait, the worse it gets, to the point of no return.”

The 53-year-old TV star shocked his fans on Monday when he was seen deciding to go on a date with 22-year-old footballer Ben.

And on Tuesday's episode, the two met for a few drinks to get to know each other – but things didn't start off so well, as Ben revealed that he wasn't feeling well.

Even when Stephen asked Ben about his favorite position in football, nothing changed, to which the TV star replied: “Doggy?”

After an awkward silence, Stephen added, “You're a bit boring, aren't you, girls? I like it low-key.”

The conversation seemed to improve when Ben talked about coming out at 18 and the difficulties it brought in the football environment. However, Stephen then pretended to yawn before explaining that Ben had “needed a new nappy” when he went to the toilet in a hurry.
