Albany police arrest second person in stolen dog case

A second person has been arrested in connection with the theft of dogs from a porch in Albany.

On the night of August 4, two French bulldogs were stolen from a home in the 200 block of Myrtle Avenue.

Shalon Jones, 46, had named the 1-year-old French bulldog Nova the night it was stolen, Albany police said.

She is accused of criminal possession of stolen goods and obstruction of justice.

Jones was arraigned Thursday afternoon in Albany City Criminal Court and transported to the Albany County Jail.

Another suspect, 29-year-old Destiny Winslow, was arrested earlier this month after police found her with three-year-old bulldog Ava.

The dogs disappeared on Sunday, August 4. A family member let the dogs out and they apparently escaped from the side yard. Then a neighbor told the owner, Alice Williams, that they saw a light-colored van pull up in front of the house and take the dogs away.

Neither Winslow nor Jones were charged with the actual theft.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Animal Control Unit at 518-472-7107 or submit anonymous tips through Capital Region Crime Stoppers at www.capitalregioncrimestoppers.com.
