Chiefs lose offensive tackle to knee injury in final preseason game against Bears

The Kansas City Chiefs have already had to deal with a number of changes to their offensive line due to offseason transfers and preseason injuries, and unfortunately, another injury was added to their final preseason game when sophomore tackle Wanya Morris left the game with a leg injury.

Morris is out for the rest of the game against the Bears.

Morris went down in the first quarter of the Chiefs' final preseason game against the Chicago Bears when someone fell on his knee and he was tackled by pass rusher Austin Booker. After the game, he went to the sideline and was immediately treated by trainers.

The Chiefs selected Morris in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma (also the college home of Creed Humphrey and Orlando Brown Jr.). The Chiefs started the 2023 season with veteran Donovan Smith, but when Smith was sidelined with an injury late in the year, Morris started some games in the late-season.

The loss of Morris opens up further opportunities for playing time for outsiders like Ethan Driskell and Chu Godrick, who, along with a holdover like Lucas Niang, hope to make the final roster.

On August 27, all NFL franchises will undergo roster cuts as rosters are adjusted from 90 players in the offseason to 53 players in the active season before the start of the regular season.
