Driver identified after fatal DUI crash in Pahrump two years later

PAHRUMP, Nevada (FOX5) – Two years later, police arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal drunk driving crash in Pahrump.

Nevada State Police said they have identified 41-year-old Damian Berry as the driver of a rollover crash that occurred on September 11, 2022 at the corner of Bourbon Street and Hall Avenue.

The Nye County Sheriff's Office responded. Officers found a Chevrolet Classic and two unbelted occupants. One of the occupants, then 53-year-old Michael Kilgore, died at the scene. Berry was taken to UMC.

According to police, Berry had a blood alcohol level of 0.14 and marijuana in his blood. Through DNA analysis, the Nevada State Police Homicide Unit was able to determine that he was the driver.

On July 20, police issued a warrant for his arrest through the Pahrump Justice Court. On August 8, Berry was arrested in Las Vegas and taken to the Clark County Detention Center.

On August 15, he was transferred to the Nye County Detention Center, where he remains in custody on $500,000 bail.

“The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol wants to remind the public that your safety is our priority. Please remember that driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is illegal and dangerous,” police said. “Take care of yourself – do not drink or use drugs before getting behind the wheel. Make responsible choices and help keep our roads safe for everyone.”
