Neighbors' concerns in Boise lead to six drug arrests

BOISE, Idaho – Reports and complaints led to six arrests in South Boise after neighbors alerted Boise police about suspicious activity in the area.

Boise Police Department Neighborhood Contact Officers began investigating a home in the 2000 block of Lemhi Street after neighbors reported suspicious activity in the area.

Police said they observed “suspicious individuals making brief visits to the home or staying there for short periods of time” and eventually obtained evidence that drugs were being used and sold in the home.

After the investigation was completed, a search warrant was issued in June, which led to further investigations and ultimately a second search warrant on August 21.

As a safety precaution for neighbors, the Boise Police Department's Special Operations Unit assisted in clearing the home and property, utilizing police dogs, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), and the Boise Police Department's Crisis Negotiation Team.

During the search on August 21, officers discovered substances that tested positive for methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as other drug paraphernalia.

Based on the search warrant, six people were arrested and all have since been taken to the Ada County Jail.

“The Boise Police Department would like to thank neighbors who have been alerted to suspicious behavior in their neighborhood. We appreciate the partnership with the community and the dedication of the Neighborhood Contact Officer Unit in investigating what was perceived to be a neighborhood problem and ultimately making these arrests,” said Boise Police Captain Mike Ruffalo.
