A Los Banos teacher was arrested for possession of child sexual abuse material, police said

LOS BANOS, Calif. (KFSN) – A teacher in Los Banos was arrested on suspicion of possession of child sexual abuse material.

According to police, 29-year-old Christian Banuelos, a teacher at Los Banos Junior High School, is also suspected of passing the material on to others.

Officers and deputies from the Fresno County Sheriff's Office took Banuelos into custody off campus on Thursday.

The Los Banos Unified School District says Banuelos has been placed on leave.

The district says student safety is its highest priority and that background checks are mandatory for all faculty and staff.

Investigators are still searching several electronic devices for evidence.

Police said they have not yet found any victims at the scene.
