Who are the Times' 2024 Fall Sports Preseason Players of the Year?

After thousands of votes have been cast, it is time to announce the Beaver County Times' top 2024 fall sports preseason players in football, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls cross country and girls volleyball.

Soccer: Amari Jackson, Beaver Area

After more than 2,300 votes were cast in the preseason poll, Amari Jackson was named the Times' football player of the year. As the Bobcats' receiver and defensive back enters his final season, Jackson has put together a campaign to commemorate his junior year, in which he posted 918 yards receiving and eight touchdowns. He was also named to the Western Hills Conference All-Conference offensive, defensive and special teams.

Boys soccer: Jordan Delon, Freedom Area

With a total of 1,690 votes, Jordan Delon of the Bulldogs was named the Times' 2024 preseason best soccer player. Although Freedom Area narrowly missed the Class A postseason, finishing just behind Beaver County Christian Academy, Delon put together an impressive season, scoring 12 goals as a junior, leading Freedom to a 7-9 overall record and a 4-8 mark in Section I.

Girls soccer: Chloe Hart, West Allegheny

Hart received over 1,700 total votes last week and was named the Times' preseason girls soccer player of the year. Last season, Hart led her West Allegheny team with 14 goals and helped them reach the postseason after posting records of 10-8-0 and 6-6-0 in WPIAL Class 3A, Section IV play.

Cross Country Boys: Drew Stifler, Ellwood City

With over 2,600 votes cast, Drew Stifler was voted the preseason's best cross country runner. Stifler was impressive for the Wolverines last year, finishing in the top 30 at both the WPIAL Championships and the PIAA State Championships last season. At the WPIAL Championships, Stifler finished 17th and 27th in the state finals. The senior also helped Ellwood City to a perfect 10-0 record last year.

Cross Country Girls: Grace Bonomo, Blackhawk

Bonomo was a consistent runner for Blackhawk last season and was named the top preseason cross country runner by the Times with over 1,600 votes cast. After over 4,500 votes cast, Bonomo finished 32nd at the WPIAL Championships last season with a time of 21:37. She returns to the Cougars for her final season along with six other top runners on the Blackhawk girls cross country team.

Girls volleyball: Haley Trosky, West Allegheny

Trosky overwhelmingly won the Times' preseason best player award in girls volleyball with over 3,300 votes. Last season, Trosky was named to the Class 3A second team as a sophomore. In her third season, she will look to lead the West Allegheny program as an outside attacker after the team lost many key players last season.
