LINCOLN, Nebraska (KLKN) — An inmate at the Lancaster County Jail is facing more serious charges after police say he assaulted a correctional officer.

According to court documents, 32-year-old Donald Johnson slammed a computer on the guards' desk onto the floor around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

An affidavit states that he then destroyed several other computers and a touchscreen monitor.

Next, Johnson grabbed a chair and threw it at a television, police said.

As correctional officers attempted to detain Johnson, he repeatedly punched one of the defendants in the head and spat on another, court documents show.

He was charged with assault by a prisoner.

Johnson has been in jail since June after police say he caused a disturbance at Bryan West Medical Center.

According to court documents, he broke a computer, slammed chairs into the ceiling and punched a hospital security guard.

He is accused of causing damage of around $6,500.

Johnson is scheduled to appear in court in the case on Tuesday.

His next hearing for the prison robbery is scheduled for September 24.
