Insights into David Morrissey's love life from famous ex-wife to new younger girlfriend | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

David Morrissey will star in the second season of Sherwood, but what is there to know about his love life, past and present?

Sherwood is making a comeback on BBC One after two years. Ian St. Clair (played by David Morrissey) is no longer a detective, but heads a new violence intervention team on behalf of the local council.

And as expected, it doesn't take long for Ian to find himself in the middle of the drama after a fatal attack leaves a family fearing for their lives.

Actor David Morrisey is best known for his leading roles in series such as “The Walking Dead,” “Daddy Issues,” “Britannia,” and “The Long Shadow,” to name a few.

But it took a long time before the 60-year-old met his ex-wife, the novelist Esther Freud.

Morrissey and Freud met at drama school in 1993 and were together for over a decade, but did not marry until 2006.

The famous couple had a daughter, Anna, and two sons, Albie and Gene, before they divorced four years ago.

Freud is not only the daughter of the painter Lucien Freud, but also the great-granddaughter of the psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud.

The Sherwood star has now moved in with theater agent Larah Simpson, with whom he was first spotted in December 2023.

Larah is 31 years old, which means there is a whopping 29-year age difference between the two.

Morrissey's girlfriend is only four years older than his son Albie. However, it is unclear whether she has met his children as the actor prefers to keep quiet about his new relationship.

Despite this romance, Morrissey told the Times that he and his ex-wife Freud remained on good terms: “We are all very close.

“You know, my ex-wife and I are very close… we all see each other often.”

The second season of Sherwood premieres on Sunday 25 August at 9pm on BBC One.
