New Bedford man arrested for gun possession

NEW BEDFORD, Massachusetts (WLNE) – New Bedford police have arrested a local man for possession of a firearm.

Andres Cosme-Mateo, 21, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, two counts of possession of a large capacity feeding device and improper storage of a firearm.

According to police, officers conducted an investigation that led them to an address on Front Street.

When officers encountered the suspect, they found him in possession of a .38 caliber revolver, 39 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and a 10-round high capacity magazine.

Officers also found a bag containing a high-capacity magazine and twelve rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Cosme-Mateo allegedly does not have a license to possess the firearm or ammunition.
