Bail set for woman accused of murdering Greenville County man

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) – A district judge in Greenville County granted bail to a murder suspect Friday morning.

Homicide investigators said Jada Jones knocked on the door of 25-year-old Robert Lee Jackson's apartment on Assembly View Circle in June. When he opened the door, she shot him in the chest, killing him, officials said.

Jones, 22, turned herself in to authorities after the shooting. After her arrest, she was initially denied bail because a district court cannot set bail on murder charges.

A prosecutor spoke during Friday's hearing, urging the district court judge to deny bail because investigators and Jackson's family believe Jones poses a danger to society.

Jones' defense argued that she is not a flight risk and that she has medical conditions that require medication. Her bail was set at $75,000. If released, she will be placed under house arrest and fitted with an ankle monitor.
