Driver arrested for allegedly hitting blind pedestrian

GRAYSON (WSAZ) – A driver accused of hitting a blind pedestrian and leaving the scene of an accident has been arrested, according to Grayson police.

The blind pedestrian was struck on the crosswalk at the intersection of Main Street and South Hord Street at around 6:30 a.m. on August 21.

The driver drove off after hitting the man, police reported.

According to authorities, the victim suffered minor injuries and declined an ambulance ride to the hospital, but was later examined by a doctor.

The officers secured evidence of the incident through video surveillance.

On August 22, two people were questioned by the police.

During the interview with Stephen Ray Ludwig, officers stated that he confessed to the crime.

Ludwig, of Grayson, Kentucky, was arrested and taken to the Carter County Detention Center.

Ludwig is accused of intentional endangerment, hit and run/failure to render assistance and driving without or with a revoked license.

The vehicle involved in the hit-and-run was seized as evidence.
