Local news: Two people in custody in connection with Haigler drug raid (23.08.24)

BENKELMAN, Nebraska – Two Haigler residents wanted in connection with a drug raid in Haigler last week have been arrested.

The Dundy County Sheriff's Office announced that Louis Cox was taken into custody by police in Wray, Colorado on Thursday and Diana Thomas was arrested by the Dundy County Sheriff's Office this morning.

Bail was set at $250,000 for Cox and $100,000 for Thomas.

Both are facing a number of drug offenses, and Cox is also facing a weapons offense.

On August 12, the Dundy County Sheriff's Office simultaneously executed two search warrants for two residences on Porter Avenue in Haigler.

Between the two residences, approximately 50 fentanyl pills, 2 ounces of methamphetamine, 20 other controlled substance pills, 3 grams of DMT, 2 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 1/2 pound of marijuana, THC wax, an AR-15 rifle, two .22 caliber long rifles, $5,000 in cash, and a large amount of drug paraphernalia were found.

The Dundy County Sheriff's Office was assisted by members of the Nebraska State Patrol's CODE Drug Task Force, Imperial Police Department, Red Willow County Sheriff's Office, Nebraska Brand Committee and Benkelman EMS.
