Portland teacher arrested for luring minor, more victims suspected

PORTLAND, Oregon (KPTV) – A Portland Public Schools middle school teacher was arrested for talking to someone he thought was a 13-year-old child from California.

On Thursday, July 18, a detective from Yuba City, California, contacted the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) about an undercover chat operation involving a Portland man.

The conversations, initiated by 38-year-old Craig Douglas-Meyers, were of a “sexual nature,” PPB said. The conversations also included plans for a meeting.

Douglas-Meyers was arrested at his home in Portland around 7 a.m. on Friday. He was accused of seducing minors.

Due to Douglas-Meyer’s rude conversations with someone he thought was a child, PPB said in a press release: “and his employment as a teacher at Hosford Middle School in southeast Portland, investigators fear there may be other children with whom he had inappropriate contact.”

Anyone with information regarding Douglas-Meyers or this case is asked to contact Officer Aaron Rizzo at [email protected] and reference case number 24-803066.
