Construction company issues statement on trench collapse

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) – The construction company has issued a statement following the fatal incident on Thursday, August 22, 2024, in which a construction worker was buried in a trench.

The statement from Dillards Construction, Inc. states:

“We are deeply saddened by what happened to one of our employees yesterday. We are fully committed to cooperating with the authorities investigating this tragedy. Our deepest thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.”

The victim of this incident was buried in a ditch yesterday.

When first responders arrived, they began rescuing the victim.

The victim was later confirmed dead and a rescue operation began.

First responders recovered the body that same evening.

This incident is currently under investigation.
