Utica Police Arrest Man After Domestic Incident Involving Firearm


UTICA, New York: — On August 22, 2024, Utica Police responded to a domestic incident in the 1100 block of Hammond Avenue where a man was allegedly threatening others with a firearm. Upon arrival, officers located and arrested the suspect without incident. A shotgun, identified as the weapon involved, was found in a hallway and recovered by police.

Following the investigation, Nazim Rascic, 34, of Utica, was charged with second-degree menacing and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. In addition, authorities are seeking a temporary restraining order for protection from danger in connection with the incident.

    The victim, a black man whose identity was not released, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and right hand. He was taken by private vehicle to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m., authorities said.
