2 people injured after accident involving two semi-trailers in Grand Forks County

GRAND FORKS COUNTY, ND (Valley News Live) – Two people were injured when a semi-truck struck another east of Thompson Friday afternoon. It happened at 1:44 p.m. on 11th Street NE near the intersection with 7th Avenue NE.

According to Highway Patrol, a Hino truck was traveling north on 11th Street NE (commonly referred to as Grand Forks County Road 81), south of the intersection with 7th Avenue NE, where it slowed down to make a left turn to head west.

A Western Star tractor-trailer combination driven by 23-year-old Andrew Chapman of Grand Forks was traveling northbound behind the Hino. The Western Star struck the rear of the Hino and left the roadway and landed in the east ditch, where it overturned onto its right side. Chapman was cited for precautionary action required.

The Hino spun out, crossed the center line and came to a stop heading south near the southbound right-turn lane.

Chapman was not injured. Two passengers in the Hino from Colorado were injured and taken to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
