Vice Presidential candidate Senator JD Vance speaks about economy and inflation at fourth rally in Michigan

In his fourth visit to the Great Lakes State, Republican vice presidential candidate Senator JD Vance (R – Ohio) will hold a rally in Mecosta County next week.

According to organizers, Vance is expected to discuss the economy, inflation and manufacturing with voters at a rally in Big Rapids, Michigan, on Tuesday afternoon.

This came nearly 14 days after Vance visited West Michigan on August 14 to speak to voters in Byron Center.

During his time at the podium, Vance took swipes at Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris' campaign, calling her campaign “fake.”

He also focused his speech on border policies supported by Harris, including the catch-and-release law, claiming that these policies have directly put the American people at risk.

“She has allowed millions of illegal immigrants into the country. That makes our communities less safe,” Vance said. “Kamala Harris has turned the Border Patrol into a travel agency for violent criminals and copycats from around the world.”

Separately, Vance's running mate, former President Donald Trump, is scheduled to speak on Monday during the National Guard Association of the United States conference in Detroit, his first speech since 2016.

Officials say more than 4,000 National Guard officers, their spouses and other guests have registered for the event at Huntington Place.

Before his visit on Monday, Trump held a press conference on August 20 at the Livingston County Sheriff's Office in which he cited crime in America as a key issue.

He announced plans to curb crime and ensure better security in America, especially along the southern border.

“Crime in America is out of control. I'm going to make it my top priority, along with the economy, inflation, strong borders and energy dominance,” Trump said. “I'm including crime in America. Usually that's done locally. And we're going to give the people on the ground a lot of help, like I did at the beginning, but not as much.”

Trump also took aim at his opponent Kamala Harris, claiming it was her fault that so many drug dealers in the US were able to commit crimes and get away with it.

“Kamala Harris will bring us crime, chaos, destruction and death. If she becomes president of the United States, we will see a level of criminality like we have never seen before,” Trump said.

On the other side of the aisle, Democratic candidates Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz (D – Minnesota) recently accepted their nominations for president and vice president during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois.

According to The National Desk, Harris vowed before hundreds of attendees to be a president for all Americans, regardless of their political affiliation.

“I will be a president who unites us around our highest goals,” Harris said. “A president who leads – and listens, who is realistic, practical and reasonable, and who always fights for the American people. From the courthouse to the White House – that has been my life's work.”

Harris also spoke about the future of the nation should Trump take office.

“Imagine Donald Trump without guardrails and how he would use the immense powers of the president of the United States, not to improve your lives, not to strengthen our national security, but to serve the only client he has ever had: himself,” Harris said.

In his acceptance speech, Walz also addressed the Trump campaign, calling it an agenda “that no one asked for.”

“It's an agenda that does nothing for our neighbors in need. Is that strange? Absolutely, absolutely. But it's also wrong. And it's dangerous,” Walz said.

Michigan residents who want to attend Vance's upcoming rally can register online for general admission tickets.

Vance will take the stage on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
