Arrest and drug case

Cordele Police Department

Today, just before 12:00 p.m., one of our detectives checking a local business discovered nineteen-year-old Michael Bernard Waters, who had several arrest warrants against him.

When officers attempted to arrest Waters, he fled and hid on foot, abandoning the vehicle he was in. Our officers and Crisp County officers searched the area and found Waters again attempting to flee on foot. After pursuing him on foot, he was eventually arrested without incident. Following his arrest, a bag of suspected ecstasy and a bag of suspected marijuana were found.

There were already seven arrest warrants against Michael Waters: four counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime and three counts of third-degree trespassing.

As a result of today’s incident, Waters has been charged with the following additional charges:

  • Possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a housing authority
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Trading in ecstasy
  • Disability of an official
  • Giving a police officer a false name and false information
  • Forgery in the fourth degree

We would like to thank the Crisp County Sheriff's Office for assisting our officers in the arrest of Michael Waters.
