New charges filed in connection with Juneteenth shooting in Round Rock

Additional charges have been filed against one of the teenagers involved in the fatal shooting at the Juneteenth festival in Round Rock.

Keshawn Dixon, 18, is charged with two counts of murder and 13 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the June 15 shooting in Old Settlers Park.

Dixon is currently incarcerated in the Williamson County Jail on charges of deadly conduct.

According to court records, Dixon is scheduled to have a hearing in October.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

What happened on June 15, 2024?

On Saturday, June 15, two people were killed and several injured during the annual Juneteenth celebration at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

According to police, the shooting began around 10:50 p.m. during an altercation between two groups at the event. Court documents later revealed that the shooting occurred after a feud began between two rap groups.

Lyndsey Vicknair, 33, of Manor, and Ara Duke, 54, of Pflugerville, died in the shooting and 14 bystanders were taken to local hospitals. The victims range in age from 10 to 62.

The shooting did not occur near the main stage, but near the festival's vendor area. Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said in June that the victims were not involved in the altercation.

Three people were arrested in connection with the shooting.

The first was 17-year-old Ricky Thompson III of Manor, who was arrested in Pflugerville on June 20. According to court records, Thompson was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and his hearing is scheduled for Sept. 11.

The second was a teenager who was arrested on June 21 and taken to the Williamson County Juvenile Detention Center.

Dixon was the third person arrested and was taken into custody in Killeen on July 6.
