Closures on the 520 Bridge, I-405 this weekend

Unless you like being stuck in traffic, you may want to rethink your weekend plans when it comes to two of our state's most important highways.

Two partial closures of major highways in the Puget Sound region will begin Friday evening and continue through the weekend.

The bridge over State Route 520 and parts of northbound Interstate 405 will be closed in both directions. Southbound State Route 167 was also scheduled to be closed, but the closure has been postponed due to the forecasted rainy weather.

Northbound I-405

I-405 will be closed in Renton from SR 167 to State Route 169 beginning at 11:59 p.m. Friday, August 23 until 4:00 a.m. Monday, August 26.

These ramps will also be closed:

Workers will replace the sidewalk slabs.

SR 520 in both directions

SR 520 will be closed from 11:00 p.m. Friday, August 23, to 5:00 a.m. Monday, August 26, along with all associated on- and off-ramps, from 92nd Avenue Northeast in Clyde Hill in both directions across Lake Washington in Seattle.

The SR 520 Trail on the other side of the lake will also be closed to cyclists and pedestrians.

During the closure, road workers will perform asphalt paving and install utilities and lighting.
