Sheriff: Multiple drug arrests in Washington County – 41NBC News

SANDERSVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Washington County police arrested several people on drug charges Friday.

According to a press release from Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran, officers along with the Middle Georgia Gang Task Force, Sandersville Police, Department of Community Supervision and Georgia Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant on a home on Gum Street in Sandersville. Officers say narcotics were found during the search, which led to the arrest of 64-year-old Robert Johnson of Sandersville. Johnson was charged with three counts of distribution of cocaine.

But the crackdown did not end there. The police continued their investigation throughout the day and arrested several more people:

  • Howard Swint, 54, of Sandersville: charged with two counts of distribution of cocaine.
  • Donald Sutton Jr., 47, of Sandersville: Charged with two counts of distribution of cocaine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
  • 30-year-old Anthony Williams of Warthen: Charged with possession of marijuana with intent to resell and probation violation.
  • William Hall, 39, of Tennille: Charges with possession of cocaine, probation violation, false report of a crime, fleeing or attempting to elude, failure to obey a stop sign and failure to maintain lane.

Officers later said they responded to reports that a vehicle was stuck on a dirt road near the Davisboro prison. With the help of a Georgia Department of Corrections canine unit, officers later found contraband in the vehicle and arrested the driver, 28-year-old Danielle Mangum of Clarement. Mangum now faces charges including trespassing, crossing the border, possession of meth with intent to resell, possession of marijuana with intent to resell and trafficking in inmates.

Around noon, a sheriff's office investigator patrolling West Elder Street reported witnessing a drug deal. Officers then arrested 59-year-old Freddie Flemming and 32-year-old Justin Sutton, both of Sandersville. Flemming is charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to resell, while Sutton is facing multiple charges, including possession of cocaine with the intent to resell, possession of marijuana with the intent to resell, trafficking cocaine and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.

“We are committed to keeping Washington County drug-free,” Sheriff Joel Cochran said in the release. “Our team, along with our partners, works tirelessly to stop the flow and sale of illegal substances in our community. Together, we will continue to fight this threat to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents. We will not give up.”
